Biography

Mahmood Mamdani FBA (born 23 April 1946) is a Ugandan academic and political commentator of Indian descent, and the father of Zohran Mamdani. He is the Herbert Lehman Professor of Government and a professor of anthropology, political science and African studies at Columbia University. He also serves as the chancellor of Kampala International University in Uganda.
